Tina Dico

As I wrote in an earlier post, I was working on a painting of Tina Dico's amazing performance on 3/23 at the Highline Ballroom in Chelsea.

It was her last night in New York after spending some time here she said, so I decided to make the city part of the painting.

IF Poise

For IF's topic this week 'Poise' I'm submitting this lady, because I think she wears her suit with poise...!

Talking about women with poise... I saw one of my favorite singers, Tina Dico, last Monday night in NY- she performed at an intinmate club in Chelsea and she was fabulous!! Besides the amazing songs, guitar playing, voice, band, she looked fantastic and had an enormous presence.
I'm trying to capture that in a painting- I'll put it up when ready!

IMT Ghost

For Inspire me Thursday's prompt this week,
I'm posting
"Watching Birds"

The prompt is 'Ghost' and if you look closely at the drawing, you can see vaguely the contours of a female figure in the background. I think it represents the spirit of a Mother Earth-like presence.

Jazz for Peace Event - Live Painting!

Today I painted live at a Jazz for Peace event. It was held at the New York Historical society

The concept is that during the course of the concert I paint the music, the show, the vibe.
The concert lasted an hour, so luckily I like to work fast! ;) I started out with a blank canvas of 24 x 20' using acrylics. After about an hour this was the result!
Here are a few pictures of the painting and the process of it.

Visit Jazz for Peace for more of their events.

Also: a picture of the proud new owners up top!

IMT- I am.... somewhere else

"Somewhere else" is the title of this new painting. 5x7" in 8x10" frame.

I am showing it in a great little place called "The Wall" on the Lower East Side in Mahattan starting this afternoon. I'm in the process of hanging this show and will update you on a opening party/get together soon! They serve amazing food- so drop by if you are in the area for lunch or a snack.

IF Legendary

This little painting has been called "The singer" and "Spotlight", for this week's entry on IF I think "Legendary" works well.
She looks like a diva, an opera singer maybe or a jazz or blues singer from a long time ago.

An untitled painting

I don't have a title for this work yet. It's brand new and I am happy with the way it came out.

I love interesting titles for paintings -as well as the plain, simple ones like 'Mother with baby' the titles I end up giving most of my jpegs in their folders for easy recognition.

Anyone have a suggestion?? They're welcome!
